With the Season 2 reveal, we saw that SNK's Haohmaru from Samurai Shodown will be entering the fray as a guest character, with three more mysterious slots promised for other characters. Although not explicitly confirmed, the implication was that Haohmaru will be the only guest character of this season, with the rest being fighters tied to the Soul universe.

There could of course be brand new characters in the mix as well, but since we still have beloved favorites from past games missing from the roster, it feels apt to take a look at who's still missing in action. Aeon Calcos/LizardmanFirst appearance: Soul Calibur (1998) Latest appearance: Soul Calibur V (2012) Numbers of playable appearances in main games: 4 Popularity poll placing: #26 (when combining Aeon and Lizardman votes)Aeon, or Lizardman as you might know him depending on when you started with the series, is a character that would be exceptionally easy to add to the game. Nathaniel William 'Rock' AdamsFirst appearance: Soul Edge (1995) Latest appearance: Soul Calibur IV (2008) Numbers of playable appearances in main games: 4 Popularity poll placing: #31Rock's biggest virtue by far is the fact that he was present in the very original Soul Edge, but that falls a bit short considering there are several compatriots from that game who didn't return, either. SetsukaFirst appearance: Soul Calibur III (2005) Latest appearance: Soul Calibur IV (2008) Numbers of playable appearances in main games: 2 Popularity poll placing: #20Setsuka is one of the four characters added in Soul Calibur III, and the only one currently not playable in Soul Calibur VI. The popularity poll shows that she's also less popular than her fellow III alumni with Zasalamel placing in 8th place, Tira getting 10th place and Amy ending up at 13th, so this makes sense. Her storyline importance is practically zero, only having some vague ties to Mitsurugi. However, given that the story-focused characters were, for the most part, available at launch this might not be that big of a detriment to her.The fighting style she used was mysteriously adopted by the 'awakened' form of Sophitia's son Patroklos in in Soul Calibur V, with a quite frankly highly nonsensical explanation featuring this oiran-themed umbrella-wielding kimono lady teaching a male swordfighter in Greece to fight in the exact same style as she did (perhaps this misstep is best forgotten). Her moveset is definitely appreaciated, and as a character she also has a good share of fans.
